Origin: Our recipe is based on the most famous that of Kavala, a harbour that unites the East with the West, Europe with Asia. It is most likely that the word “kourabies” [kuru for dry and biye for biscuit] originates from Turkey and made its way into the Greek language during the period of the Ottoman rule.
Ιn the past, women would often take part in a silent, unspoken competition in an effort to present the tastiest recipe. This explains the countless number of different versions that can be found today.
